Meet Our Associates--R. Scott Sutherland
R. Scott Sutherland Scott's professional mission is to assist and motivate successful individuals and business professionals by helping them define and prioritize their goals and identify areas of risk or ineffeciencies. He helps them put a plan in place to create an opportunity to succeed in reaching their financial and personal goals. He does this through a consultative process, followed by detailed analysis, recommendations, and an action plan. Scott has been a member of Financial Consultants Group for the past 14 years. Prior to working with Financial Consultants Group, Scott had the experience of running a successful retail business for 18 years as well as being on the franchise board for 7 years.
Scott graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Through his education as well as his diversified experiences, he has developed a broad range of skills to help others succeed. He has been an active member of his community, both professionally and personally. He has been involved in coaching and refereeing AYSO soccer and YMCA youth basketball. Scott has been a Boy Scout leader, supervised Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) for the homeless, and worked with SCORE as a speaker at chapter meetings. In addition, he has served on several volunteer Boards of Directors, including the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, York/Vallette Business Association as its President, Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church as the President of the congregation and member of the Endowment Committee, TCBY Franchise Association, and the Planned Giving Committee for Elmhurst College, and most recently as board President of Spirito Singers.
Scott has been a long time resident of Elmhurst, Illinois and has three wonderful children, Joseph, Joshua, and Jessica. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 29 years and unfortunately widowed in 2016. Scott enjoys golfing, riding his bike, and singing with the Men of Spirito.
